Day Care
Day care at St David’s Hospice is a 5 day a week service which is Nurse-led. Mondays are reserved for bereavement work and patients who require individual attention.
Day care services are accessed via referral from a health care professional, patient and family visits and requests for the service are welcome, but must be backed by a professional’s referral.
The assessing nurse will offer the patient a one- day- a- week slot. The Hospice staff work closely with the local Hospitals, G.P.’s, Macmillan and District Nurses- indeed all health care professionals involved with the patient’s care.
The Hospice helps people live with their disease, ensuring good quality of life, and provide support for both patients and loved ones.
Day care patients can enjoy:
- Assessment and continuing care from a trained Nurse
- A Doctors assessment if they have sudden onset of symptoms
- Aromatherapy and massage from trained therapists
- Diversional therapy
- Visits from allied professionals e.g. Clergy, Macmillan Nurses.
- Physiotherapy (if appropriate)
- Contact with our friendly volunteers and fellow patients with similar experiences.
