Complementary Therapy
Complementary therapy is a general term for a vast range of therapy, but the main ones offered at St David’s are:
- Massage - Practiced since the earliest civilisations, massage or rubbing is an instinctive act for relieving pain and discomfort, and for soothing and calming.
- Aromatherapy - This is used in conjunction with massage, essential plant and flower oils are rubbed into the skin to ease aches, muscle cramps and stress.
- Reflexology - special techniques are used to massage certain areas of the feet. This helps relieve energy blockages in the body, and is a deeply relaxing therapy
- Healing and Reiki - This is a technique used for transferring healing energy from the giver to the receiver, it can be used with other therapies to reduce stress and invoke a sense of wellbeing.

Diversional Therapy
This is a health and social welfare practice for those unable to fully participate in daily activities due to their illness or disability. Through art, craft, and pursuit of hobbies, the therapist is able to aid with dexterity, and social interaction skills, leading to a sense of fulfilment for the patient.
