Many thanks to all who turned out for the Twin Falls Walk on Sunday. A lovely walk. A great day. Watch this column for a running total of money raised by this event.

There is very little time left to secure tickets for the St. David’s Hospice Annual Summer Ball  which will takes place in the grounds of Fugro Robertson on  Friday, 27th June. This is a great occasion with champagne, good  food,  plenty of wine, music to suit all tastes,  wonderful prizes to be won, and the chance to bid for some truly amazing items in the grand auction.
For details contact the Fundraising Department on 01492 879058 without delay!

The Colwyn Choral Society is holding a Summer Concert in aid of St David’s Hospice on Saturday 7th June at St John’s Methodist Church, Llandudno, to start at 8pm: Feel the Spirit – spirituals arr. John Rutter; African Sanctus excerpts – Fanshawe, Gershwin and more. For further information and tickets (£7 Adults/ Children & Students £3) call 01492 516160, or collect them from the Hospice between 9am and 5pm. Tickets will also be available at the door on the night.

Calling all  women to the Dawn Walk  on Saturday 16th August. This 9 mile walk will  begin at  Aberconwy School at first light, and follow the coastal path to the Hospice in Llandudno, where there will be light refreshments and a quick turnaround before we retrace our steps back along the beach to Conwy.  This is the first time we have organised an event of this type, but we are sure that it will be good fun, and more importantly that we will be following in the footsteps of other hospices throughout the UK, who have raised many thousands of pounds with similar events. This money is needed because although St. David’s does not charge for the service it provides, it receives very little help from the Local Health Board, and all but 10% of the running costs of £1.4M must be  met by fundraising and voluntary contributions. Fortunately the hospice receives enormous support from the community it serves, and there can’t be many people who have not heard of St .David’s or been touched by it in some way. We hope that this walk will be a visible demonstration of this, and that as the dawn breaks there will be a stream of women making their way across the estuary and onto the beach at West Shore. Many may wish to walk in memory of a loved one, and some may simply want to show their support for what we believe is a vital service for the people of Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey. But whatever your reasons for joining us we will be delighted to see you, and look forward to receiving your registration form before 1st August.
