Its official - the Rhos on Sea Hospice Shop has now reopened following a refit and general face lift. The official re-opening was presided over by Margaret Lyon, trustee and long time supporter of St. David’s Hospice. This shop, together with seven others, which are sprinkled throughout Conwy, Gwynedd, and Anglesey, provide valuable income for the Hospice, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers who give freely of their time to help the dedicated staff.
The Annual Hospice Summer Ball took place on Friday, 27th June, and a good time was had by all! The Hospice would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped to make it such a success. This event would not be possible without the unflagging support of the local business community, generous individuals, wonderful volunteers, and all those who attended this event and helped to make it such a special and profitable evening. A special thank you to Fugro Robertson for hosting this event for seventh consecutive year.
The Annual Hospice Summer Fete will take place on the Saturday, 26th July in the grounds of the Hospice on Abbey Road, Llandudno. This will be opened by our Hon. President, William Roache at 1pm. There will be all the usual stalls with more besides. At this point we are anxious to hear from anyone who is able to pledge cakes for the cake stall; plants for the plant stall; and of course bottles for the ever popular Bottle Tombola – a chance to clear any weird and wonderful bottles from the booze cabinet! We would also welcome any items that could be sold on the bric a brac stall; the jewelry stall; and the book stall. Anyone who would like to help by running a stall should contact the Fundraising Department on 01492 879058 during office hours
The entries for the Dawn Walk are now coming in at a steady rate, and all the signs are that the 16th August will go down as one of the great moments in the history of the Hospice Fundraising Department. This women only early morning walk certainly seems to have captured the imagination of the community, and it would seem that the ‘up before the lark’ start is no deterrent to the hospice supporters!
The walk starts at Aberconwy School at first light. Follows the North Wales Coastal Path onto Conwy Quay, over the bridge, and onto the cycle track that leads along West Shore to the Hospice on Abbey Rd. At the Hospice there will a short comfort break and then the walkers will return on the same path. Although the walk is 9 miles long, the walking is easy, and there is no pressure to walk at anything but the pace you are comfortable with. There is a place here for strollers and striders. Some may want to get the blood pumping, and some may simply want to dawdle along taking in the beauty of the shore at this special time of day.
There is a registration fee of £10.00, and participants will be expected to raise further sponsorship (no minimum). All participants must pre register before the 1st August . Although this event is for women only we would be grateful for any volunteers to help with marshalling or registration ( men or women).
