The team that represented the St. David’s Hospice in the British 10k Run which took place in London on Sunday 6th July, did the Hospice proud. So far £1,276 00 has been raised in sponsorship and there is more to come.
It’s countdown time for the Hospice Annual Summer Fete which takes place in the Hospice grounds on Saturday the 26th July. Preparations are in full flow; fingers are crossed for good weather, goods are stacking up for the various stalls, games are being planned, and hopefully Thursday and Friday will be baking days in kitchens right up the valley and beyond. One thing is certain, and that is that there will be a good crowd, not least of all because William Roache will be presiding over the official opening at 1pm, Beulah Brass will be playing, and the Conwy Crystal Majorettes will be there to entertain the crowds. Although the goods are flowing in, we could still do with more bottles for the bottle tombola, cakes, quality bric a brac, and plants. These can be dropped off at the Hospice in Abbey Road, Llandudno between 9am and 5pm between now and Saturday.
Although the Dawn Walk is not until the 16th August, the deadline for registering is Friday, 1st August . So now it’s very close to decision time. Do you, or don’t you? We know it’s early, we know 9 miles is quite a trek. But it will be worth it!
This is a a women only event .The walk starts at Aberconwy School at 3.45am and follows the scenic route along the estuary and shore to the Hospice. Then there is a break for a bite to eat, and we return the same way. For some the half way point will be enough, and that is fine too. Please join us, we want this event to be a big show of support for the Hospice movement!
For a registration form contact the Fundraising Dept on 01492 879058.
The Gardens at Maenan Hall will be open to the public on Sunday, 3rd August in aid of St. David’s. The gates will be open from 10.30am until 5.30pm with last entries at 4.30pm. These beautiful gardens are particularly superb in August and well worth a visit. Not only will the roses, maples and yuccas be at their best, but these gardens are worth visiting for the teas and views alone. The tea rooms will be presided over by a team from the Red Cross who have built up a deserved reputation for fine cakes!
Maenan Hall is situated on the A470 2 miles north of Llanrwst.
Admission: £3.50/children and concessions £2.50.
The Crest Co-Op, an organisation that works out of Llandudno Junction are planning to raise funds for St. David’s by holding a Charity Car Wash at Llandudno Fire Station on Saturday 26th July 10am until 4pm. Please support them, and help them to support us.
There are plans afoot for a 3 Day Luxury Break in Yorkshire. The coach will leave Llandudno on Friday 10th October and return on the 12th. The trip will take in Leeds (for shopping), Skipton, Leyburn and Harrogate. It will include 2 nights in the Hotel Ramada in Wetherby. This hotel is AA3 Star listed with spacious en suite bathrooms.
Price: £125.00 per person based on 2 sharing with a single supplement of £28. Insurance £33.
