Tree of Lights: Now that the nights are drawing in and winter is approaching, our thoughts turn to Christmas and the St. David’s Hospice Tree of Lights which will once again be shining on the Cayley Promenade in Rhos of Sea. This tree, which is organised and sponsored by the Rhos-on-Sea Rotary Club, has become a great source of comfort for many people, and has raised £75,600 for palliative care at St. David’s. This year the Lighting Up ceremony will take place on Sunday 29th November. All are welcome to enjoy the carols and the moment when at the flick of switch the bare branches are transformed.
There is a Pub Games Night on Friday, 23rd October, 8.30pm at the beer tent, Conwy Feast in aid of St David’s Hospice. The night consists of challenges loosely based on traditional pub games involving tests of strength, knowledge and skill. The event is for teams of five and the entry fee is £10.00 per team. Teams who register in advance will get 5 free beer tokens for use on the night. There will be a limit to the number of teams, so it is highly advisable for teams to enter in advance. Entry on the night will be allowed provided the number of pre-registered teams has not been exceeded, however, there will be no free beer tokens for teams who enter on the night. On Saturday 24th October there is a Northern Soul and Motown Night at Aberhod Old Hall, Rhos on Sea. 8pm until Midnight. Door Tax £3. Across the board music DJ Line up includes Gaz Jones, Chico and Steve Thomas . For details contact Gaz Jones 01492 871874.
The second coach for the Trafford Centre Shopping Trip is filling up fast. This popular day trip is just in time for all your Christmas shopping, with over 230 shops under one roof! The St David’s Hospice Christmas Fair is a week later this year, on Saturday 5th December 10am – 2pm. Due to clinical reason, the main stalls will be located in the Loreto Hall, next to the hospice (instead of in the hospice itself as in previous years) and the free Santa’s Grotto will be at the hospice and the café will be open.

Friday 23rd October: St. Paul’s Church Hall, Rhiw Road. Colwyn Bay. 10am – 12 noon.
Saturday 31st October: Drink & a Chat from 2pm onwards at Canolfan Addysg, Bro Cernyw, Llangernyw. Entrance £2 includes tea/coffee & scone/cake.
An Italian Theme Night at Romeo’s Ristorante and Pizzeria, 25 Lloyd Street, Llandudno, is on Sunday, 15th November at 6.30pm. The event is tickets only, cost £15. Contact Beth or Marie for details (01492 879058). All proceeds to St. David’s and St. Kentigern Hospices.
