In the last three years alone, the local Freemasons Grand Charity society has donated £5,799 to St David’s Hospice, and at the end of 2009 a cheque was presented to both St David’s and Ty Gobaith Hospices. £1,856 was given to St David’s, which provides free palliative care to adult patients from across the North West Wales area. Chief Executive Alun Davies said: “We are extremely grateful for their continued support over many years and may our excellent relationship continue in the future. Their donation helps us continue to provide a high level of palliative care to the people of Anglesey, Gwynedd and Conwy.” £1,423 was also donated to Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice and Area Fundraiser, Beverley Bradley added: “We are delighted by this wonderful donation it will help us greatly in providing the special brand of care we offer to our local terminally ill children and their families."
The Tree of Lights 2009 raised over £10,368.95 for Hospice funds, and this will increase by an estimated £2,000 when ‘gift aid’ is added. So heartfelt thanks to the Rhos on Sea Rotary Club, everyone who sent in dedications, and last but by no means least the North Wales Weekly News who have supported this campaign so magnificently over the years.
We are calling on our supporters to rise to the challenge and help us raise £10,000 with The Great St. David’s Hospice Coffee Morning Challenge which runs until the 27th May 2010.
All that’s needed is a church or community hall, or even your front room or garden, and a band of friends who aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. It‘s also worth bearing in mind that ‘Coffee Morning’ is very loose term and can apply to Coffee Evenings, Afternoon Tea Parties, Cheese & Wine, and Cocktail Parties, and that the Fundraising Co-ordinators at the Hospice are on hand to help with publicity, and any advice you may need. For further details or an information pack please contact Beth or Marie on 01492 879058 (office hours).
The date set for the St. David’s Hospice Skydiving Day is Saturday, 18th September, when we hope to have a full team of twelve taking to the skies above Shropshire, and jumping from a height of 10,000 ft. Each jumper will be strapped to a professional instructor, and will experience the thrill of freefalling at 120mph before the parachute opens and adrenaline levels settle! If you have always wanted to do this, but the date does not suit, do not despair, Skyline runs a rolling programme of skydiving days throughout the year! For an information pack on how to take part in a sponsored parachute jump for St David’s Hospice please contact Beth or Marie 01492 879058 or booking form from this website.
