PHOTO: Three peaks challenge
The UK Three Peaks Challenge is a popular hill walking challenge, covering the length of the UK - Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon in Wales. To complete the walk, all three peaks need to be ascended and descended within 24 hours. Despite the growing popularity of this challenge you shouldn't under estimate it difficulty of it, but it's worth all the hard work. St David’s Hospice is organising their first ever sponsored challenge on 3rd – 5th Sept in conjunction with local company ‘Adventurous Ewe’. Take part in the Teddy Bear Toddle on Llandudno Pier, Sunday 25th April. This is a sponsored walk for the whole family and Teddy too! Participants have the option to walk 5 miles or 2.5miles. In order to take part you must pre-register, and all children and their bears must be accompanied by an adult. In addition to a £3 registration fee (to cover administration costs) we are asking all participants to raise additional sponsorship. There is no minimum amount. This event is ideal for pushchairs and wheelchairs alike, and you don’t have to be a child, or bring a child. Just be a child at heart! Friday 30th April -Take the Stage - An evening of Dance, Live Music and Entertainment performed by the extremely talented children from some of the top Performing Arts/Dance Schools in North Wales, including Pearl Shaw, Inferno Dance Club, C.U.E Performers, Anna Baker and SB Entertainment. The evening itself will be presented by Peter Howard Sherlock from Price-Drop TV who will also host a raffle of wonderful prizes and an auction of generous gifts in aid of St David's Hospice. On Monday 3rd May, a Golf Day will take place at the Rhos on Sea Golf Club. All profits to benefit St. David’s. Anyone wishing to play and requiring an entry form, should contact Joan Leach on 01492 540516.
St David’s Hospice is putting together a special cook book, full of scrumptious pudding and sweet recipes supplied by all our friends, volunteers and supporters - and we invite you to share your favourite recipe with us. Whether it's that old faithful with an added twist or a secret ingredient, a "quick 'n' easy" or a more adventurous pud - we'd love to hear from you. We will choose a varied selection of supplied recipes to be printed in the A5 cookbook, which will be on sale at the hospice and in our hospice shops. St. David’s Hospice patients/carers are notified there will be a meeting of the User Carer Group at the Hospice on Monday, April 12th 2010 at 11am. Anyone wishing to contact me, but who cannot attend the meeting, may get in touch by e-mail at: kevanblomeley@hotmail.com.
The hospice continues to raise funds through collecting mobile phones, foreign coins or notes and stamps. Any donations can be left at the hospice shops across the area or at the hospice itself on Abbey rd, Llandudno.
